A calendar of holy days The Jewish Federation of Austin appreciates the interest and coverage provided by the Austin American-Statesman about the Westlake Marching Festival taking place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar. On behalf of the Greater Austin Jewish community, we appreciate all who have expressed their dismay and concern about this scheduling problem. It is our earnest hope there will be no more such conflicts in the future. On a proactive basis, the Jewish Federation of Austin publishes and distributes a Six Year Calendar of Jewish Holy Days. It is available to any individual or organization requesting a copy. It sends it to schools in the Austin area, businesses and government agencies. It includes a brief description of Jewish holy days as well. Indeed, any wishing information on Jewish holy days or other matters about or affecting the Jewish community of Austin is free to call (331-1144), fax (331-7059) or e-mail (bsilverb@jon.cjfny.org) our office. B'Shalom (In Peace), BARRY SILVERBERG Executive Director Jewish Federation of Austin
